8 am alarm goes off “keep it down” but no one’s there to turn it off when she looks around the smell of smoke, couldn’t be, just can’t win no time to lose, get on your feet, luck is wearing thin out in the cold without a coat the smoke is pouring out see the flames come through the roof, our place is burning down the firemen do their best but it’s too late there isn’t much we can do but sit and wait chorus: when you don’t know what to do and you don’t know where to turn gotta pick yourself back up you’ve got another mile to go breaks my heart to watch it burn and see the flames what is next? Sifting through insurance claims it’s all just stuff we didn’t need, can do without all you’ve done restored my faith without a doubt

when the rain comes down i feel like i’m gonna drown and every drop will land inside my lungs when you drive away with nothing much to say some strange fear says you may not return chorus: hold me close, say that you’ll never go let your sweet lips whisper in my ear kiss me slow, baby let me know squeeze me tight, remind me you are near when the wind blows cold and cuts straight through my bones my soul it shakes like leaves upon the trees baby, hold my hand and give me strength to stand i do not think i’ll make it on my own
3.
i am where you are and you are here with me i go where you go and you come with me chorus: i carry your heart inside my heart the wonder that keeps the stars apart at the root of the root of a tree called life whisper your secrets to me i fear no fate i want no world for you are my fate and you are my world

another summer storm has swept across the state turning blue skies to grey clouds break loose and give up the rain i keep thinking of you today chorus: let the rain come down 3x let it wash us now do you remember when we ran through the rain... on that perfect summer day you were more beautiful than all the things I’d ever seen you could have chased the clouds away
